Current position

Tenure Research Fellow (Ricercatore) at the Department of Humanities of the University of Ferrara, where he teaches the History of science.
Director, M.A. in Science communication, University of Ferrara.

Education

1993 Degree (laurea) in Philosophy, University of Bologna.
1999 Ph.D. in the History of Science, University of Florence.

He spent several periods of study and research outside Italy, as a visiting student (University of Oxford, 1992 e 1995), research affiliate (Yale University School of Medicine, 1997), research fellow (Bakken Museum and Library, Minneapolis, 2002), and visiting scholar (Max Planck Institute for the History of Science, Berlin, 2008).

Main research interests

History of early modern science and medicine (17-18th centuries); the early development of experimental practice in the life sciences; the study of investigative pathways, creativity, and the process of discovery.
