At the moment, I am doing my PhD fieldwork in a neuropsychiatric service in Bologna. I am interested in investigating how the medicalization of childhood behavior - within the service, and in society at large - is affected by the processes of standardization of educational paths within schools, and how these processes contribute to the reproduction of social inequalities.
I am focusing especially on diagnostic and therapeutic paths, and on their effects in the production of Learning Disabilities' diagnoses.

My main interests are focused in the area of Medical Anthropology. In particular, I am interested in the economic, political and social construction of the categories of “disorder” and “disability” within the biomedical framework; I am concerned with how the biomedical categorization affects and redefines the individual and social identity and how the biomedical labels are manipulated and reproduced by the individuals.

For my master thesis I did a fieldwork in Santa Cruz (California) focusing on the re-elaboration of the personal experience of university students who were diagnosed with ADHD when they were young.

Centre for International Health (CSI), research group (Angelo Stefanini, University of Bologna, Department of Hygiene and Public Health). The main field of interest is global health, approached through a multidisciplinary framework – grounded in the theory of the social determinants of health – that encompasses the fields of medicine, public health, medical anthropology, social and political sciences, and law. Consequently, the applied research methodology relies on both quantitative and qualitative approaches.

Associazione Diversalmente: no-profit association which promotes the development and the application of transcultural psychology and ethnopsychiatry through initiatives of consultancy, formation, publication and research in the educational, clinical and organizational contexts.
